Literacy Week at Ken Taylor!

Here is a quick overview of the different events taking place at our school this week. We started our week with read my shirt day! Students took turns reading each others shirts. We quickly noticed that a lot of the words were sight words! The others were words we could sound out by looking for smaller words in bigger words and looking for chunks like 'st' or 'er'.

**Look out for our monster challenge pictures tomorrow! ** Congrats to our winners!

In math we worked with measurement vocabulary. Please discuss these words with your child. Can you find things in your home to match these words?

Here is the measurement IXL math questions for practice.

Today we were so fortunate to watch the assembly put on by the AM kindergarten and grade 2 students. Ask your child what they enjoyed most about the assembly.

Today our engineers were given a challenge! A group of monsters asked our brilliant students to help them construct a car to help them get to their friends birthday party! Of course they asked Ms. Lightfoot and Mrs. Brar's classes because they are the most brilliant students! Our engineers took on the challenge and began planning the cars they were going to make. All students were given only a certain number of materials: tape, straws, life savers and paper. Lucky for us, the monsters came to join us when we were just about finished our cars. Each student made sure their monsters were safe in the cars. Here are some pictures of our engineers at work!
