Many of our students have mastered the first 100 sight words! Today we spent time practiced reading sentences that are comprised of these sight words - broke down in groups of 20. For students still learning some of the sight words, this makes for wonderful practice! For those students who have mastered these words, they were practicing reading with fluency and expression. Students found their own space, pointed at the words as they read, and read with their reading buddies to help them stay on track. Here are some brilliant readers, hard at work!

OUR OSPREY EGGS HAVE HATCHED!!!
During our snack and read aloud we thought we would see how our Ospreys were doing. First we watched one of the osprey's simply sitting in the nest. After a few minutes we noticed another osprey joined and then we saw....THE BABIES!!!! We counted three! We watched as the parent ospreys feed the babies. What an amazing opportunity! Here are some screen shots of what we saw!

We were so lucky to have Sergeant Brewster join us today and help us work through the 7 C's that Steve Harmer introduced to us a few weeks ago. He asked our students some very important questions:

How do police officers connect to our community?
What are some things Sergeant Brewster needs to be confident in our community?
What does it mean to be competent as a police officer? (Competent means: having the necessary ability, knowledge, or skill to do something successfully.)
How do officers contribute to our community?
How can the police help people in the community cope?

Ask your child: Did Sergeant Brewster say we all make mistakes?
