Welcome to Mrs. Brar's Grade 1 blog!

We had a great first day in our new school! We explored around the school, met some new faces, and made some new friends! We're still learning about the routines of the day, but we will get it in no time!

Every day I will be posting about some of the things going on in our classroom and school and reminders when necessary. If you prefer to read the blog in another language, please find the translate button on the left side. Click the language you prefer, and most of my message will be translated for you! Another handy feature of the blog is putting in your email. This way the blog posts/updates will come directly to your inbox nightly - you will never miss a post! I will highlight other features in the days/weeks to come.

In math we were looking at patterns and began creating them with the manipulatives in our classroom. Here are some pictures of the patterns students created!

Please ask your child: What kind of pattern is this? Can you describe it to me?

Coming home today: In your child's backpack you will find an envelope which contains the following items:
  • Welcome letter/Staff list and contacts
  • Calendar
  • How to pay school fees
  • Use of school district use of personal information: Please sign and return blue form
  • Volunteering information
  • Student Demographic Verification Report: Please review, make changes, sign and return

Reminders

If you have not done so already, please send indoor shoes with your child that we can keep in the classroom. We participate in physical activity every day, so proper footwear for the gym/exercise is very important!

If your child is still learning to tie the shoelaces on their shoes, please try to send them with velcro shoes instead.

Please feel free to contact me at any time! Come in and visit, email me at sibrar@cbe.ab.ca, or call the school at 403-817-3504.
